There are ATM’s at the airport and also in Kalpitiya town (10 min drive from The Rascals)
The reference spot is Lay-Low by Rascal kite resort: the resort lies at Dream Spot on the Kalpitiya lagoon. With 25° waters and year-round 30° air temperatures and constant side-shore wind, Kalpitiya is the perfect playground for kitesurfers of all abilities.

The Lay Low by Rascal resort features three new buildings welcoming you right on the beach of Dream Spot.
Each building has 3 beds and 1 private bathroom. All meals are provided, with lunch right on the spot!
Your stay is all-inclusive and full-board, with water always included during the meals and while kiting.
The rooms are newly built for the 2025 season, so everything is almost untouched inside.
A boat will be always available on site for safety reasons or just to use it in case we need to move around.
Also a 4 wheel drive can access the site if needed.

This is where it all happens! Right in the middle of the sandbank, there is Rascals Kiteschool with super-flat water, served by a Beach Hut with amenities (hammocks, drinks, music, assistants, instructors, rescue boat).
This spot is suitable for all levels of riders, even foilers, and it is world famous.
The very best flat water Lagoon section in Sri Lanka, located in Portugal Bay. This long and narrow island easily competes as one of the best flat water spots in the world and how lucky we are that it works both winter and summer season. Not only are there offshore lifeboats, clean and laminar winds, and acres and acres of butter-flat water, but the scenery is simply amazing and it makes the perfect day trip.
Our accommodation is located right on this spot, that offers a unique combination of waves and flat water. It stands out as one of the deepest flat water spots in the area, making it an ideal choice for beginners in kite and wingfoil. On the ocean side, there is a beach break suitable for both beginners and experienced riders to enjoy. The wind direction is side onshore in the ocean and side offshore in the lagoon (rescue boat always available). This spot is operational during both the summer and winter seasons.
